<span style="font-family: inherit;">Each year I look forward to seeing what Canadian quilters/textiles artists are working on and meeting new people. It creates a wonderful sense of community! This summer I unplugged so that I could spend more time with my husband and children and fly to Alberta to visit family for the first time in five years. While there, we had the opportunity to check out the Western Threads exhibit at the Royal Alberta Museum in Edmonton. There is some pretty amazing textile and fibre art happening across this country. Once we got back to Nova Scotia my sewing room became our storage room and we embarked on kitchen and bathroom renovations. Today is my day off and I FINALLY get to reclaim my space now that all the work is done. (read as .... catch up on my We Bee Canada quilt blocks that I am months behind on and Teresa hasn't had access to her sewing room since July soooo .... no quilt pics to see for now ... sorry)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">We moved to Nova Scotia almost 5 years ago from Ottawa, Ontario. My daughters' dance and music lesson schedules prevent me from joining any guilds. I have come to realize that one of the things that I miss most is the community of textile artists that I had around me .... those days of packing up to head to the Quiltin' Hilton for the weekend with my group of quilting friends. So, a couple of weeks ago, I packed up and drove to Cape Breton to seek out like minded fibre people at the Maritime Handspinners' Retreat hosted by the Unspun Heroes. </span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">I drove up on Tuesday to the beautiful Gaelic College to participate in a daylong Historical Knitting workshop on Wednesday and a Wet Felting workshop that spanned Thursday afternoon and Friday morning.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: small;">My first foray into Wet Felting .... the layout before felting. Today, my plan is to finish the embellishing (I'll post a pic of the finished project)</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">The retreat began Friday afternoon and lasted until Sunday noon. It is amazing how quickly friendships can be forged over a bag of fibre, a spinning wheel, shared stitching with over 80 spinners/weavers in one room. The Gaelic Singing at the Milling Frolic and the Ceilidh only added to the wonderful atmosphere in the room.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: inherit;"> I went knowing not a soul and came home with planned retreats in January and February to meet up with new friends in NB and Maine; I came home reminded what I love about quilting, spinning, and weaving....that lovely community! I have seen this clip floating around FB lately. It is so true!</span></div>

<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">If you are new to quilting (spinning/weaving or whatever your preferred textile passion is) or have never had the opportunity to head to a retreat, my advice is to find one and go. I'm a home body and introvert so I usually suffer about a week or so of "what the heck did I sign myself up for?" panic but once I get there, I have never regretted it....I learn new tricks, built lifelong friendships, and typically laugh until my sides hurt.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">If you know of any textile related retreats that are coming up in 2015 then please feel free to share in the comments below. I would love to hear about what is happening in your community and who knows, maybe I might pack up my car and join you!</span></div>

Knitting right now for me is more portable than my sewing. I have to find my sewing room after what seems like a long hiatus from quilting. It seems when my family doesn't know where to put something it lands in the centre of my cutting table. Yesterday I was able to clear through most of the stuff and find it a good home (often the garbage bag).<br />
<br />
My new shawl is called Life Cycles; another beautiful design by Laura Nelkin.. You can find it as a Craftsy class if you would like to knit along with me. This is a square shawl knit from the centre out. It can be started on DPN or circular with the Magic Loop. I'm more comfortable with DPNs so that was my needle of choice for the circular cast on. After about three tries I finally got past Row 3. Nothing wrong with the pattern ... just the operator getting distracted by kids needing things or phones ringing.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DVZw9Kse5OQ/U3of7FAYMUI/AAAAAAAAB88/MYC-jWR3POc/s1600/Circular+cast+on.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DVZw9Kse5OQ/U3of7FAYMUI/AAAAAAAAB88/MYC-jWR3POc/s1600/Circular+cast+on.jpg" height="553" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I found this lovely yarn while in Prince Edward Island for Mother's Day. We made a brief stop at the <a href="http://www.minimills.net/">Belfast Mini Mills</a>. Their website says that aren't open at this time of year but you can catch them by chance or by appointment. After a quick call we discovered that they were there busy working in the mill. I've been there once before, last summer. It is a lovely spot and the owners are so helpful. You can take a tour of the mill and visit with their three dogs, see their new peacocks, lambs, etc. They are creating a new enclosure for the peacocks and creating a little picnic area so that you can have a restful place to have your lunch before continuing on your journey. I believe I have some photos from last summer ... if I find them I'll share put them up. For now ... check out their link. <br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Nupps .... I've tried them before without success and swore I would never torture myself again. hahaha Never IS a long time. Success!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I was hoping to share more progress. I started this on Friday evening. The problem...It seems one of my kittens is quite fond of my knitting needles and one of them has disappeared (the needle ... not the kitten). We tore the house apart this weekend looking for the 5th needle. I managed to find my husband's missing glasses, 5 cat balls, a stuffed mouse toy and my daughter's book...no knitting needle.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Neither Oscar or Ondine are talking.</div>

I think they're holding out for treats.</div>

I can't believe my last post was in November and we are now in May. I wish I could say I was travelling the world or on the verge of some great discovery ... but, I wasn't. I had thyroid surgery in mid-December "to keep me healthy" then spent the rest of the month and Jan recovering; Feb to March catching up, getting a grasp on "keeping healthy" turning into the discovery of stage one cancer on my thyroid and a slew of new doctor's appointments; April diving right into organizing volunteers for an Orffestra Music Educators National Conference in Halifax with my daughter's dance competitions the week prior and the week following .... and ending up with both kids and husband home sick the week of the conference. May ...I'm recovering from the month of April!!! Sounds glamorous, doesn't it!! <br />
<br />
My apologizes to those that follow or have commented and I have not responded to your lovely comments. This is my fresh start. After the twists and turns of this past year, I am looking forward to getting back to what brings me joy ...spending time with my family and in my spare time (hahahaha) spinning, quilting, drawing.....<br />
<br />
Knitting was one thing that I could do after my surgery. It kept me focused and brought me a lot of comfort. In the fall I posted some pictures of my Skywalker shawl off of the needles and the beginnings of my Clarus shawl (both designed by Laura Nelkin). I have FINALLY blocked them and am so pleased with how they turned out. Tonight, I am casting on a new lace shawl ... another beautiful design by Laura Nelkin and I am knitting up a gauge for a lace shrug. I will hopefully get some photos up for those tomorrow.<br />

Knitting this shawl brought me so much comfort after this surgery. I feel extremely blessed that my cancer was discovered extremely early and that they got it all with the surgery so I don't need any treatment other than thyroid medication and follow up appointments. I know there are so many other families coping with so much more. My thoughts and prayers are with those families. It seemed only appropriate that the shawl that I knit through my own recovery be used to raise funds to help others.</div>

<br />
<br />
Welcome to my blog. I'm so excited that Sew Sisters is doing their Blog-a-thon again. Last year, I met so many wonderful quilters online and made new friends. What a great way to see the awesome talent that we have in Canada. Thanks Adrienne for being one of our Maritime hosts and for asking me if you could feature my blog on your list of Maritime bloggers ... what a nice compliment! Half the time I think that no one reads other than my family ... actually, I'm not even sure that they know that I blog! lol Take some time and see what Canada has to offer. Head over to <a href="http://sewsisters.blogspot.ca/p/blogathon-canada-2013.html">Sew Sisters</a> to find the schedule.<br />
<br />
I have called Nova Scotia home for just a little over 3 years. I was born and raised in Ontario; I was married in Ontario to my wonderful and supportive husband ... also from Ontario...and had my two daughters in Ontario. When my husband's work asked him to transfer here, we jumped at the chance and haven't yet regretted that decision. We have met so many great people here and have had some fantastic opportunities that we probably wouldn't have had back home. The past few months we have been spending a lot of time with the St. Luke's Community Players theatre group and I am blessed to call them my friends.<br />
<br />
It has been pretty busy around here. My sewing room has been moved up to my living room and kitchen and my patient family is just dealing with it. I haven't done a lot of quilting lately. My main focus has been learning my lines for the Wizard of Oz, making sure that I get my girls and husband to rehearsals and helping with costumes and props. I swear that every surface in the house is covered with ribbon, glitter, fabric, suit jackets, dresses and crinolines....and I love it! Oh, I forgot ... TV trays for the family to eat at and do homework on. This has been our life since the end of August. It will be so weird when the play is done!<br />
<br />
If you are in the area, the play is at the end of the month. The Sunday matinee is SOLD OUT!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Someone donated a bridesmaid's dress that they wore back in the 1980's for the Good Witch. I brought it home to clean it up a bit and add a little glam to it. I love coming up with costumes with what we have on hand.<br />

<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">I've had a bit of a cold so have been curled up on my couch knitting yesterday and this morning. I am taking a class through <a href="http://www.craftsy.com/classes">Craftsy</a> called Mastering Lace Shawls, taught by <a href="http://www.nelkindesigns.com/index.cfm/page/about.htm">Laura Nelkin</a>. I am a relatively self-taught knitter; I watched my grandmothers knit and crochet as a child but was never taught by them. When I started knitting I had a general idea of how to create certain stitches. I then resorted to "How to Knit" books and a couple of friends that I met while taking the OHS Spinning Certificate program. After rooming together for 8 days every summer for 6 years you can really pick up a lot of tips. Today, however, I added the most valuable trick to my knitting toolbox. After all the times that I have had to rip out and start again, why did no one ever teach me about the LIFELINE?</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">If you, like me, have never heard of a lifeline, this is what it is....</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jKb0nqDHKhA/Uj4JXjZUZtI/AAAAAAAAArM/_Jw8TXVWQ90/s1600/DSCN2603.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><img border="0" height="498" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jKb0nqDHKhA/Uj4JXjZUZtI/AAAAAAAAArM/_Jw8TXVWQ90/s640/DSCN2603.JPG" width="640" /></span></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">See that white strand of yarn through my knitting. That is the lifeline. Using a contrasting yarn and tapestry needle. thread the yarn through your stitches after finishing your purl row (edit: ws row). Cut your (lifeline) yarn larger than your work, keeping in mind that your work will be larger when blocking (right now my shawl looks horrible but when I stretch it out...beautiful!!!...I know there is hope once it is blocked). So....why the lifeline is important....</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Well, somehow I messed up while tinking to get back to an error in my knitting. On my last repeat, I had one too many stitches. I went back and fixed it then got back to the last repeat and was one stitch short (I knew I should have stopped the row before for a break!). Then I saw it...the dropped stitch and chaos following in its path. After "muttering" loudly for a while I then remembered that Laura gave us that lifeline. I can easily pull my work back to that row and start again from there rather than risking dropping more stitches and losing everything. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hb7g0SKJtEc/Uj4NvPI5w9I/AAAAAAAAArY/6naSc3KovpY/s1600/DSCN2604.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hb7g0SKJtEc/Uj4NvPI5w9I/AAAAAAAAArY/6naSc3KovpY/s640/DSCN2604.JPG" width="640" /></span></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Ta-da...first I removed my needles from the messed up work (sorry about the picture, it is just loosely draped over my knee). Then I picked up all my stitches along my lifeline (without removing the lifeline). Once I <strike>closed my eyes</strike> was ready, I simply started winding my yarn back onto the ball, unraveling my work back to the lifeline <strike>holding my breath the entire time,</strike> completely confident that I would not lose all of my hard work. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">I am ready to knit again...after a cup of peppermint tea. This time though...I'm adding a second lifeline up in that section where I messed up so I don't lose so much.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">I would have appreciated knowing this on my last <a href="http://twistfullyyours.blogspot.ca/2012/09/surviving-back-to-school-m.html">shawl</a>...around the 5th time that I pulled it all out. Now that I know this trick, I will forever be using it!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">If you are interested in the Mastering Lace Shawls class, I do believe their 75% off sale ends tonight. Laura is a fantastic instructor and she really takes the time to break down the steps to make it an enjoyable knitting experience. I love that she knits along with you (and you can pause her because she is a much faster knitter than I am...I am now intrigued with Continental knitting!)</span></div>

First off...don't forget about my <a href="http://twistfullyyours.blogspot.ca/2013/09/catching-up-and-giveaway.html">giveaway</a>...it ends tomorrow. I have had a couple people mention that they have had difficulty leaving a comment. I took off that verification thingy (because really...I have trouble even reading those myself). If you do have trouble just email me personally via my profile email. I've been trying to reply to everyone personally but yesterday I wasn't even focusing so I will try to catch up tonight and tomorrow. I do appreciate everyone's wonderful comments and good luck to all those who have commented and signed up to follow my blog.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I had hoped to have more accomplished today but then I saw a post on FB about the tragic accident in Ottawa today. I just had to stop everything that I was doing and process what I was seeing. My first thought immediately went to my husband even knowing that the bus route he was using took him no where near where the accident happened. I then thought of all of our friends and family that live in the Barrhaven area. I've already heard from a friend who witnessed the aftermath and my heart goes out to her and everyone else involved. My deepest thoughts and prayers to all.</div>

After a week and a half of our new schedule ... back to school, 7-9 hrs of dance, 1 hr of music (guitar & voice), and about 5 hrs of combined rehearsal time for Wizard of Oz ... I think we are doing pretty good (as so eloquently stated by my daughter who is sitting here reading over my shoulder). This is before we have even started band rehearsals, Jazz Club, and Orffestra...I think I have a carpooling schedule worked out...fingers crossed! She is right though. We have been getting everywhere on time, the girls are staying on top of their homework, and I have been actually making it to my sewing room! AND I feel more relaxed than ever. All this with daddy away since the second day of school...he has been working in Ottawa. I will be so happy when I hear that front door open tomorrow night (well...as long as it is him and not some scary stranger). The only flaw in our routine was me ending up sick yesterday...flat out on the couch, and our eating. There wasn't enough time for them to eat and I have no idea why we even had food in our fridge. Our eating choices on the go are rather limited...McDonald's, Subway, and Tim's (hmmm...I wonder why I am getting sick). Enough is enough. Looking at the schedule, I have re-declared Wednesday "Baking Day"!!! So far, I have a big pot of Sausage & Kale Penne, Carrot, Ginger and Quinoa Soup, 16 mini GF zucchini bread (make that 15...I just saw my daughter walk by with one in her hand, there are 8 mini GF banana bread in the oven as I type, and plum bread mix waiting to go in. I think that is pretty good for a start of meals and lunch snacks for the rest of the week...considering I'm sick.</div>

I am just starting lesson 4 "Skywalker - Jedi Training" (Skywalker is the name of the shawl). I am ready to pick up my needles! <br />
Woke up first thing this and took my daughter to dance. She helps with a pre-ballet/tap class and a returning ballet/tap class on Saturday morning for two hours. Then I had to run home and pick up my other daughter so we could go purchase her supplies for her first year in Family Studies. They are making "Ugly Creatures". Once we found what she needed (and I found a couple more pieces for my Christmas scrap quilt) we rushed to pick her sister back up from dance. Wait...I'm not done yet...we headed back to Bedford and grabbed a quick lunch at Tim Horton's (why do I even have food in my fridge this week??). After lunch we were off so we could all get our hair cut (my oldest got her hair chopped right off...it was a shock but so cute. I think she is torn. Understandable considering she used to cry when I would trim an inch off her hair as a toddler...she thought she looked like a boy even with her hair still to her waist.). We arrived home long enough for me to heat up two leftover tacos for them and now Flea is off to dance again for the next hour and a half. Then I need to go back to pick her and her friend up. I think I wore a path between Bedford and Tantallon today! I'm tired!!!<br />
<br />
So grateful that I picked up some yarn and cowl pattern this week; I'm halfway finished.<br />

Quality time with my daughters and visiting with my parents for the month of August was #1 on my To Do list. I have to say ... mission accomplished. We had a lovely summer together. It included trips to the beach, PEI, staycationing around Nova Scotia, and games. Did I have time for anything creative? ... nope!<br />
<br />
Gabrielle is here now and the rain is coming down so a good time to catch up with things.<br />
<br />
Here are some highlights of our holidays....with a giveaway at the very end of the post...<br />
<br />
Step one...visit Cow's Ice Cream down by the harbour...<br />
<br />
<a href="http://museum.gov.ns.ca/mmanew/en/home/default.aspx">http://museum.gov.ns.ca/mmanew/en/home/default.aspx</a><br />
We have been to the <u><b>Maritime Museum of the Atlantic</b></u> quite a few times; however, this is the first time that the the chandlery of William Robertson and Sons has been open. I discovered a love of knots and bumpers this trip and had a wonderful conversation with the interpreter about oakum.<br />

<u><b>The Oven Natural Park</b></u><br />
<a href="http://www.ovenspark.com/">http://www.ovenspark.com/</a><br />
This was a first time visit for all of us and we LOVED it. The scenery and hike is beautiful ... and the railings helped me get over the fear of falling from a cliff! <br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
One of my first loves....old cemeteries (my poor girl's have been dragged through more cemeteries than I can count. Their first playground was a cemetery next door to our first house. It has paid off ...we could have spent hours here!)</div>

This is the only sunflower maze in Nova Scotia. Located between exit 7 & 8, Dakeyne Farm is operated by Don and Annie Wilson. The maze is family operated over 5 acres of their property. According to the website, they operate until the last petal falls (the girl that I was speaking with said they would be open until mid-late September). According to yesterdays Facebook post, Gabrielle may put a quick end to the season. If you miss it this year then watch for it next year!!</div>

<br />
When you finish your stroll through the maze grab a kite and head out to their open field to enjoy the stunning views. After this little adventure, the girls were a bit more receptive to our desire to move to the country. Suddenly Christmas wish lists changed and we now see "horse" and "cow" added.<br />
<br />
<b><u>Tangled Garden</u></b><br />
<a href="http://www.tangledgardenherbs.ca/">http://www.tangledgardenherbs.ca/</a><br />
<br />
My friend suggested this little trip to Wolfville. I really wanted to take my parents to places that weren't the typical tourist stops and places to indulge mom in her love of gardens and food. This definitely met those requirements. If you stop in make sure to try the ice cream. The girls loved the chocolate mint; I loved the lemon thyme.<br />
<br />

I had stopped in just for the eye candy and inspiration but the sample for this cowl pattern jumped out at me. I don't do a lot of knitting but when I do I really enjoy it. The stitch used was something I had not seen before. It is called a Linen Stitch and made the cowl look almost woven and it gave the cowl a beautiful soft hand.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Sooooo.....I never have giveaways ... I've thought about it but it just hasn't happened. Today, with all the rain and dreary overcast skies I feel that today is the day that I need to share a little joy (because really...we all love a giveaway). I don't have the fancy bells and whistles found on other blogs. For this, we will be using the high tech "hat" and one of my daughters picking a name. Make sure you leave a way for me to contact you to get your mailing info.</div>

I'm so sad .... I love spending time with them (that being said, one is upstairs watching a movie, one is in the next room playing a game on the computer, and I am sitting in my studio reorganizing it and cleaning). I have pics and travel tales to post about but I don't have time right now. I need to get daughter #2 ready to go fundraising for her dance studio...they are doing a car wash (it is currently raining and doesn't look like it will be getting any better).<br />
<br />
I am looking around my room and have had a few thoughts...some have crossed my mind before and others are sudden "I wonder if" thoughts.<br />
<br />
The main ones:<br />
<br />
<ul>
<li>Wow...things have really gotten out of order down here this summer!!</li>
<li>I'm unemployed! Is there something in here that I could do for income? and where do I start?</li>
<li>and my new one....Is all of this covered under my home owners insurance? Having lost a home and contents when pipes burst and our insurance company finding a loophole and not covering a dime, I am always leery. </li>
</ul>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So, I have a few questions?</div>
<div>
<ul>
<li>How do you store your WIPs so that you don't have to re-iron them every time you pull them out and so they don't completely take over any flat surface in your studio?</li>
<li>Do you keep an inventory of all your fabric, notions, etc that you have? I am talking sewing machines, looms, spinning wheels (yes, plural), bags of fibres for spinning...books. (When our pipes burst they did not cover anything...let me tell you that it is a sad day when you see the majority of your possessions tossed into a dumpster...fortunately, the week before I had removed all my artwork, family photos, and family history from the house or I would have been devastated. We were getting the house ready to sell.)</li>
<li>If you do keep an inventory of your fabric and notions, how detailed is it in terms of quantity and measurement of the piece of fabric and batting, etc?</li>
</ul>
</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
This week, as I pondered life on the unemployment line, I sorted through fabric to donate to youth camp next week and sewed up a few blocks for the We Bee Canadian quilting bee. <br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GB8aAcrhzW8/Uefi60ahwfI/AAAAAAAAAg8/UQ9o6MX_dQ4/s1600/DSC06347.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GB8aAcrhzW8/Uefi60ahwfI/AAAAAAAAAg8/UQ9o6MX_dQ4/s640/DSC06347.JPG" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">These will eventually be Bento Blocks. The recipient asked us to stop at this stage so she can mix them with the other blocks she will receive. Looking forward to seeing the end result. The quilt is being made for a young girl.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<br />
Through my sorting I came across some UFOs. There isn't a lot of shame. We all have them...some have been sitting around longer than others. Yesterday I found my daughter's baby blanket (yet to be finished) so I grabbed it and took it to dance to sew. <br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bWJIX5Ea57Y/UefjdNY8MkI/AAAAAAAAAhE/6ilrkbYF_pI/s1600/DSC06349.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bWJIX5Ea57Y/UefjdNY8MkI/AAAAAAAAAhE/6ilrkbYF_pI/s640/DSC06349.JPG" width="480" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">All these lovely pieces were given to me by my dear friend Sue when Charlotte was born. Somehow when we moved years ago they were packed away and not discovered until now. I had fretted that they had been tossed with the majority of our possessions when the pipes burst in our house. I was so excited to find these this week!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
I finished up two more at dance and it has become my handwork project for when I sit waiting. Now just so you know....said daughter is now 10!! but that is okay....today I found her sister's baby blanket. It is almost quilted. Her sister will be 13 in December.<br />
<br />
When I haven't been looking for projects to work on, we have continued with our staycation. There are lots of huge holes in the city with new construction happening all around us. Lots of free entertainment for parents with little ones that LOVE big trucks and machinery! <br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The best server!!! (We met up with Ian yesterday and took him to The Works for lunch and had the same server and he knew exactly who we were and even remembered Charlotte's order from before. When the food was delivered to the table yesterday he popped over to make sure we had everything and immediately picked up Charlotte's food and told her it wasn't a gluten free bun .... I'm not even sure that we remembered to ask for a gluten free bun when we ordered but he took it and fixed it right up for her)<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: small;">After lunch yesterday, our server chatted with us about our day and showed us some pics he had taken the day before down at the waterfront. This solar powered boat was one of the highlights that he recommended the girls go check out. Pretty amazing!</span><br />

<b><u>Summer Book Club</u></b><br />
What we have been reading since the 4th of July (we have seemed to have started our own little family book club! lol)...Once one of us finishes something it gets passed on to the next family member.<br />
<br />
<br />
<ul>
<li>Geek Girl by Holly Smale</li>
<li>The Cahill Chronicles: Born Wicked by Jessica Spotswood</li>
<li>Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes</li>
<li>Drawing Out the Dragons: A Meditation on Art, Destiny, and the Power of Choice by James Owen</li>
<li>Witchlanders by Lena Coakley...Cora's having a hard time getting in to this one but the reviews are good so she is giving it a chance</li>
<li>The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien (Charlotte is part way through this one after convincing her sister to finally let her read it...I have to admit...I've never read it)</li>
<li>Small as an Elephant by Jennifer Richard Jacobson (Charlotte just started this one last night and is making speedy progress and loving the story)</li>
<li>Graceling (my current read) by Kristin Cashore</li>
<li>The Power of Starting Something Stupid by Richie Norton (this is pretty appropriate for us right now...as we are probably considering a lot of options that those who like to share their opinions with us would consider "stupid". Our Stupid Idea list is growing!)</li>
</ul>

I usually have a PLAN<br />
Wednesday we walked out the door thinking we had a PLAN<br />
Off to the Art Gallery.....we never made it!<br />
<br />
There was brunch in Spring Garden and a stroll down the street....<br />

(saw this on FB...have no idea who to give credit to...I love it!!)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It has been a pretty wet spring and beginning of July. Fireworks have been cancelled in Bedford...booo! Holding out slim hope for Halifax. My husband and kids had a late night out playing games with friends while I worked at home catching up on a few of the Braille courses that I am taking. One down...two to go before I will feel caught up. They eventually got up at noon so we missed the parades in town. I was up early...after going to bed around 2:30 am (I don't think my body realizes that I am done work for the summer) so I crept downstairs to apologize to my sewing machine for neglecting her for so long and to tidy up a bit. The other day I was down looking around my room wondering why I even bother anymore; I don't have time. I thought about selling it all, giving it away, packing it up....then today I came across a blog post from <a href="http://naptimequilter.blogspot.ca/2013/06/slabs-for.html">Dining Room Empire</a>. Cheryl (co-author of <a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/95196999/sunday-morning-quilts-signed-copy">Sunday Morning Quilts</a>), has organized "Just One Slab Quilts Recover Southern Alberta".</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ygA_RESCQo8/UcoA29KdGfI/AAAAAAAAFow/j1okfH6TpmU/s1600/Just+One+Slab.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ygA_RESCQo8/UcoA29KdGfI/AAAAAAAAFow/j1okfH6TpmU/s400/Just+One+Slab.png" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I grabbed my scraps and started to cut and sew. I can't sell, give away, or pack up...my sewing room is my place of zen. I just need to make more time to enjoy it!!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
On Cheryl's blog she gives a quick summary of how to make the slab blocks. Square them up to 15.5" and message her to get her snail mail address. You only need to make one. My daughter's thought it looked fun so perhaps they may sit down and make some too. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I've always been a pattern follower so randomly sewing pieces together at first was...um...stressful but once I relaxed and didn't worry about colour/fabric placement, it was rather enjoyable and I now am planning to make my own quilt using this block. It is really quite simple...cut random size scraps (trying to keep all one colour) then piece a couple strips. Repeat then join these two units. Continue adding on scraps until your block measures 15.5". You can add a little white bit if you would like. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Although I have family and friends in Alberta, none were evacuated from their homes however our thoughts Alberta and all those that have been affected.</div>

I've been away from my computer for quite awhile. As things get crossed off of the calendar, I get one step closer to my sewing room!!! Today, while I enjoyed the sounds of Andrea outside, I was inside spring cleaning the main floor and my sewing room. School finishes here on the 28th!!!! Taking out field trips and days, closing ceremonies, etc...there are about 9 1/2 classroom days left!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Last night, I finished up bat wings for my daughter's jazz dance recital piece. I made one back in October for my oldest daughter's Halloween costume and the dance instructor asked if I could make up more for their dance number. They are so simple....the instructions can be found here <a href="http://mypoppet.com.au/?blogger=http://mypoppet.blogspot.ca/2011/10/how-to-easy-bat-wings-for-halloween-or.html">My Poppet</a>. They are so easy to adapt for any size.</div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Essentially it is a little shrug that they will wear over their black bodysuit.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Since January, I have been participating in a quilting bee....to keep me in the sewing room at least once a month. The group was hosted by Hayley over at <a href="http://mrspicklesgarden.blogspot.ca/">Mrs. Pickles Garden</a>. She did an awesome job keeping us all organized. There were 6 in the We Bee Canadian group....we are working on our final block. That being said, some of us have decided to continue on from July to December. She needs one more for the We Bee Canadian group for it to run (criteria...we are from Canada...simple). If you would like to participate, hop over to her blog and message her. I am continuing on and would like to send you a block!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
May was my month. The block I chose was <a href="http://hyacinthquiltdesigns.blogspot.ca/2011/01/garden-fence.html">Garden Fence</a>. I LOVE this pattern. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Here are the blocks that I was sent from across Canada. Some generously sent me more than two blocks. The goal is to make my daughter a double size quilt for her new room. The unfinished block is 10 1/2" and there will be white sashing between them. How many more blocks do I need? I can't wait to get started...I was pulling my fabric this afternoon.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XeJ-EidT3Sg/UbOph1O83dI/AAAAAAAAAa8/9RJOPyDrhKc/s1600/May+Blocks.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XeJ-EidT3Sg/UbOph1O83dI/AAAAAAAAAa8/9RJOPyDrhKc/s640/May+Blocks.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
The colour choices were based on these samples that I showed them and the elephant fabric that my daughter chose on our last trip to Avonport, along with Martha Stewart's Aegean Blue wall colour with white furniture.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jZ00GOjMRpI/UbOrAO5rOEI/AAAAAAAAAbM/CPAdu3yije4/s1600/Fabric.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jZ00GOjMRpI/UbOrAO5rOEI/AAAAAAAAAbM/CPAdu3yije4/s400/Fabric.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I love how everyone took my suggestion and interpreted the block....and how well they all look together!</div>

<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">We have flowers and butterflies showing up in our yard!! </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Are you jealous??</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Sometimes you just have to get a little creative with the idea that Spring is here!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">We are all suffering from cabin fever; </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">we are tired of the snow after having grass not too long ago!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Today we hit the wall and boredom set in.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">How is that possible with two girls in the house that always have books, sketchbooks or knitting in their hands?</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">I have no idea....but it happened!!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">I tried to ignore...</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">I tried to continue to think about work </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">(yes I had to work on this pd day and I brought home thoughts of things I would like to do)....</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">I tried to get annoyed....but even that didn't work because I truly understood how they felt...</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Eventually, they trudged outside and grabbed their sleds and I put my "Mom" cape back on.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Remembering their favourite "toddler" winter activity, I pulled out the jars of food colouring and my plastic bottles and set to work.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">It turns out that their favourite "toddler" activity is still a favourite as we approach the teen years!!!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Welcome to our Garden</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">We were hit with a snow storm last night. That meant a chance for my girls to sleep in a little and a chance for me to play catch up. I also introduced my oldest daughter to Pinterest...heaven help me!</span></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">I am participating in an online quilting bee hosted by the fabulous <a href="http://mrspicklesgarden.blogspot.ca/">Mrs. Pickles Garden</a>. Pop on over and check out her blog. I am not even going to complain about the amount of snow in our driveway after looking at her photos in SK! Spring is here....right???!!!! </span><span style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;">I am in the We Bee Canadian group.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;">I'm really sorry about the quality of the photos. To be honest, I'm not sure why they are coming out blurry. A tad frustrating but at least they give you the idea of what I have been up too.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">I stepped out the front door this morning and realized that our snow was pretty much gone thanks to all of the rain. There is grass and that means the deer will be back grazing in our yard soon. My oldest daughter stepped out and took a deep breath and declared it to "smell like spring...and that means summer is not too far off". Good weather equals ROAD TRIP! so we headed in to Bedford for an early morning hair appointment then hit the road for the Valley. I'm not sure what it is about the Valley. If I have had a bad day, a trip to the valley is sure to bring up my spirits. I know it isn't just <a href="http://www.avonportdiscountfabrics.com/">Avonport Discount Fabrics</a>. When we first moved here they were closed anytime we drove by. It definitely doesn't hurt that they have an awesome fabric store there making it well worth the drive (especially when you take the correct highway and don't end up on the road to Amherst). It doesn't hurt that I love Gaspereau Valley Fibres too (although we didn't go there today...I had to resist the temptation!) It simple comes down to the fact that the Valley feels like "going home" to me even though home is really in Ontario.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Today, our goal was Avonport. I needed that gray to make the blocks to mail away. It took me a while to pick some. I guess I don't really care for gray and there wasn't a HUGE selection to choose from. I topped up my gray purchases with some colour that really excited me and made me happy (my girls were even happier when I said "yes, I'm done"). This is what came home with me...and I pretty much <strike>stayed in/close to</strike> blew my budget. (The skulls are for my oldest daughter....we went in last October searching for a skull print with no luck. Today I spotted them so grabbed a bit for her for this Halloween.)</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hMr3mVRA-HU/UUIv6gF2EKI/AAAAAAAAAX0/uZs2Qe-MLkA/s1600/DSC05339.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="464" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hMr3mVRA-HU/UUIv6gF2EKI/AAAAAAAAAX0/uZs2Qe-MLkA/s640/DSC05339.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace; text-align: start;">As I was at the cash I heard my youngest give a little shriek. "Elephants," she cried. "Mom! How could you not even see these?" My youngest LOVES all things 'ELEPHANT'. "Please, Mom...Please buy a little more fabric so I can make some pillows for my room!" Bless her little soul! She was begging me to buy more fabric!!!...how can you resist that? So, along with my purchases these two pieces found their way to the checkout....</span></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">...along with this...followed up with the statement "Can you make me something to hang on this mom OR maybe I can?" </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">I then headed in to Wolfville to have a quick lunch with my girls so that we could laugh and visit and plan before our wonderful March Break comes to an end. </span></div>

<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">I need to confirm some PD days but we believe there are </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">My goal today was to make my two blocks for last month's Quilting Bee AND my two blocks for this month so that they would be ready to mail tomorrow. I woke up today to a rather gray and overcast day and a rainfall warning. It was rather dreary but still beautiful enough to throw my flip flops on to drive my husband to his bus stop. As soon as I was home I wanted to call my mom to see how they are doing...then realized it was only 4 am in British Columbia...that made my gray day feel rather blue. My friend Jackie came to my rescue with a phone call and chat. Her daughter is in Alberta so she completely understands the time difference issue. With my sewing machine set up and ready, I ran downstairs to find the perfect fabrics. The first block needs blue, lime green, and gray. The second uses teal/turquoise and red. Can you believe that in all my fabric I don't have any GRAY. How have I sewn all these years and not used any gray? Turquoise...I used my last bit not too long ago. My first inclination was to jump in the car and go to the fabric store...easier said then done. The fabric store is about an hour away, my kids in were in lazy day pj movie mode AND there was a heavy rainfall warning....I don't do well driving in the rain. I decided to wait until tomorrow to go and make a day of it. Soooo, essentially NOTHING was accomplished today other than a great nap on the couch and a couple loads of laundry. It didn't even rain (well it is now). I guess I could have gone to Avonport after all.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Thanks for the "Are you okay?" comments that I have received. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Yes, I'm great actually! </span></div>
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Over Christmas we had been pondering packing up and leaving the HRM or maybe even Nova Scotia. Both were sad thoughts for our whole family. We love it here; this is home. Just when we had pretty much decided that we would have to leave I started getting more substitute work (I work as an EPA) and that turned in to a 80% term until the end of the school year. As quickly as that things started to turn around for us. I love what I do, I love working where my children go to school, and I love that many stresses have been totally lifted (or at least alleviated)from our shoulders. It has been 12 yrs since I have worked full time so it is a lot trying to be gone all day AND plan meals AND get girls to dance or music or.... Most days I am away from home 12 to 14 hrs and still need to come home and do all the day to day stuff. Fortunately I have a very helpful husband who pitches in to do the dishes and make bread before he heads to bed (for about 5 hrs if he is lucky). I was always busy as a SAHM and rarely sat down so now I am basically trying to cram an additional 5 hrs in to the day!! All things creative have essentially taken a back seat to life. I need to make up some sewing kits to take to dance to get in my sewing time!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">I love this new colour. She was completely resistant to the thought of painting her room. The yellow is from the previous owners and it really needed freshening up. Over the weekend I was FINALLY able to get DD to look at colour chips. According to her, there were TOO MANY beautiful colours to choose from. In the end, of the 20 some odd paint chips that came home, every single one of them were shades of blue! (this from the girl that LOVES red and pink). She kept coming back to one chip so I ran out and bought the paint and this morning started painting before she woke up and had a chance to change her mind! </span></div>

<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;">cleaned the carpet in my daughter's bedroom (thanks to my friends for loaning me their cleaner)...it was rather disgusting when I saw the water...YUCK! Now I am pricing out flooring for our rooms. The carpets have to go!</span></li>

<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;">took the youngest to dance rehearsal...typically I stay and wait but I hadn't even started supper yet and she was dancing for 2 1/2 hrs tonight (usually it is only 2)</span></li>

<li><span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">came home and installed a new light fixture in my oldest daughter's bedroom. I've never actually done this before. I had started earlier but couldn't shorten the cord so DH pitched in and helped me until he had to run back to pick up my dancer. Fortunately my oldest has grown a lot lately and was tall enough to hold the light while I connected everything. I can now add "light fixture installer" to my list of abilities! It is so pretty and my daughter LOVES it so success all around!</span></li>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">I still have a couple of quilt blocks that absolutely HAVE to get made and sent for a Block Bee that I signed up for. They were due the end of February. She was late posting them (when I had lots of time) and now I am scrambling to get them done. Hopefully once the munchkin goes to bed. This is kind of (minus painting a bedroom/cleaning carpets) how my days were prior to working...and since working (adding in 5 hrs of work to the list). I am hoping that after March Break I will have more balance once some things that need to be looked after are done and crossed off of my list.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying this beautiful spring-like weather that we have been having. Tomorrow...hmmm...I'm not really sure what we will be doing. Today was my catch up/work day...tomorrow is our family day.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;">This week I jumped in feet first to my goal of getting the kitchen cleaned up and decluttered this week! I work on it in the morning in 15 min intervals (along with all the fun stuff like laundry, catching up on blogs, emails, etc) Today was my large spice cupboard and a couple of drawers. It is amazing what finds its way to the back...some of it I opened and had no idea what it was (tasting is not often a great idea...I found the alum!) It is such a great feeling to start out the new year with a clean kitchen and everything in place. Mind you decluttering can create a lot of new clutter as bags find their way to the door to be donated or to the top of the basement steps to find a new home on food storage shelves. It will be done by Saturday. Then I move in to the living room. Fortunately my family is understanding my need to reduce the visual overload. O</span><span style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;">n really good days I sit back and things are looking rather bare! </span>lol<span style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"> Now to find the balance between overload and empty house!!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">I have dedicated my afternoons to creating...something! anything! and having fun! </span><span style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;">My 3 words for 2013 are Live, Play, Learn. The past few days I have landed on the couch curled up under my blanket. On the first day I had to remind myself that "curled up on couch" was not "living" so I pulled out a Dresden Plate Pillow kit that I won before Christmas. It arrived just in time for Santa to take it for my stocking (budget cuts) to keep me focused on my daughter's birthday and Christmas. I decided that I could curl up on the couch and sew the project by hand. I haven't done that in ages...sew by hand (not counting binding)...I forgot how much I love sewing by hand.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">My husband hooked up some sort of external port thingy to the old tower so I could post pictures...YAY! I can't seem to edit them so you will have to take them as is...bad lighting and all.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-p-kIP5xhBNU/UO8dz8qawYI/AAAAAAAAAV8/nGGouTCYYes/s1600/project+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-p-kIP5xhBNU/UO8dz8qawYI/AAAAAAAAAV8/nGGouTCYYes/s640/project+5.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">The fabric is from a line called Flea Market Fancy. I love this fabric and don't have any so was super excited to win a kit with it.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Today, I was going to start appliqueing it on to the background fabric but then started looking at the tv tray. I was going to toss it at the end of the week. It is old and covered with marker and paint stains and glitter glue from the girls early crafting days. It is a bit of an eye sore. Then I went downstairs and tripped over my ironing board and bumped into my cutting table while walking around the ironing board...this equals stress for me. I then realized that my nasty tv tray was the perfect size for the spot next to my sewing table AND it would give me more space to walk around the cutting table without tripping over the ironing board. I went online and found that many other people had similar thoughts so I picked a <a href="http://www.ohfransson.com/oh_fransson/2010/01/a-woman-a-plan-an-inexpensive-tv-tray-new-pressing-board.html">tutorial</a> and ran with it. I pulled out some Robert Kaufman fabric that I love and backed it with some heavier twill fabric. In less than an hour I had a new mini ironing board perfect for my sewing room.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">I love the fabric. Perfect for a blustery, cold, wet day like today! So bright and cheerful! The flowers match my sewing room wall.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">I love that when I am not using it, I can fold it up and set it out of the way.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">It is now not an eyesore when I am working in the living room!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">One thing that I am going to do is glue gun some twill tape around the underside to keep anything from catching on a staple and to prevent the fabric from fraying.</span></div>

<b><span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace; font-size: x-large;">Happy 2013!</span></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">I hope everyone had a beautiful Christmas and holiday season with family and friends! Our family is spread across Canada so it is just the four of us here. We invited friends over for Christmas dinner and a games night. Over the holidays we shut down technology, picked up the telephone to make some phone calls, and wrote letters to people we love. It was nice to sit around the table writing letters! What a novelty these days!!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">I sat down ready to blog the other day. My daughter was curled up on the couch watching a movie so I plopped down with her, with my laptop. I really should learn...she sat up, stretched and that long arm of hers tapped the power cord and "poof"...no power...again! My husband went at it with a screwdriver determined to fix it and was unsuccessful. Really not how I planned on starting our a new year...it will probably cost more to fix it than to buy a new one! lol I guess I should start saving my pennies now while I continue to investigate repair possibilities.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">My theme for 2013 is LIVE, PLAY, LEARN</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">live life and participate rather than continuing doing what is "expected" of me</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">have fun while doing it and experience new things</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">learn, learn, learn...to have fun, relax, destress</span></li>
</ul>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">I have a few projects in mind for the year and am planning on making some things to sell this year. Now that I have the printer liking my laptop, I really, really want to get my laptop working so I can get to my Inklingo download and print some pieces to give that a whorl (I should see if I can have the download on more than one computer...that would solve a lot of technical problems right now). Our family has set some family goals...paying some things off, my youngest wants us to learn about a famous artist each month and create something in their style, my other daughter wants us to learn German (I have trouble with English some days so that should be fun) but most of all this year is about coming together as a family.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">I would post some pics but alas this computer does not recognize my card from my camera. lol</span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">I'm excited...I FINALLY figured out how to create a banner for my blog. We limit the amount of technology in our home so this is like learning a new language. I know CAD...an old version of CAD for Architectural drafting but that is about it. I am on a learning curve here so for this day...I'm a Genius!! Pull out the party balloons and streamers!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;">Heading out to pick up some Christmas gifts...we are very last minute this year. Praying our parcel gets to BC on time. Then home to get the printer working (I found the cable) to print off some Inklingo and give it a try. I'm very excited about this! Will keep you posted on how it goes.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;">I managed to do some spinning yesterday. It was great sitting behind my wheel and just relaxing.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8Njf2r6El08/UMs9v9UWZtI/AAAAAAAAATU/J03f7-U2Z8E/s1600/skein.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8Njf2r6El08/UMs9v9UWZtI/AAAAAAAAATU/J03f7-U2Z8E/s640/skein.jpg" width="379" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace; font-size: x-small;"><i>Do you like all our snow? Please send some our way.</i></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">I love this skein. I know..it's a barber pole but it can be very effective knit up. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><b>Description</b>: 50/25/25 Angora/Wool/Silk 2-Ply Orthogenous Skein. The angora gives the yarn a beautiful halo. The hand of the yarn is so soft (like a little kitten).</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">40 metres </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">16 WPI (wraps per inch)</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Fine</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Recommended Needle Size 3-5</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">The wool/silk blend was a "scrap" in my fibre bin that I wanted to use up. The white Angora I purchased from Jan and Peg at <a href="http://www.etsy.com/people/FriendsinFiber">Friends in Fib</a>er (the bunny that donated to this spinning project was Snezhinka). If you need beautiful, clean angora fibre this is definitely my "go to" place. The customer service is fantastic and they are extremely helpful. They rushed off parcels of angora fibre for me on very short notice to help me cover a fibre shortage that I experienced with my OHS spinning project that I undertook this summer. I even got some wonderful New Hampshire holidaying tips for our next trip through that area.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Here are a couple of other projects that Snezhinka contributed to. These were my sample projects that I submitted for my OHS design challenge.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Blueface Leicester blended with angora</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">The projects were inspired by patterns found in my daughter's knitting book. I'm not sure where she has put it but once she gets home I will post the title. It is one of the best books I have found for teaching children how to knit and full of lots of fun projects.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">100% Angora</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Sorry to my quilting non-spinner friends for all the fibre lingo. The munchkin in the photo above was reading over my shoulder the other night and told me how much she loves me because I "love string and thread" and when I talk quilter and spinner language. We do have our own language that can baffle others...WPI, HST, QST, PIB. I hadn't really thought of it until she mentioned it.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Before I head off I just wanted to share something beautiful that took place last night. On the news it isn't often that we hear good. This warmed my heart beyond words. If you have been following along you know that we were blindsided last week and it affected everyone but more so my oldest daughter. I'm not going to go into the details...what mattered was that she was crushed, sad, hurt, disappointed, and broken. On top of it she learned some difficult news about someone that she really cares about. It was a lot to handle, even for an adult. Last night, this wonderful couple took the time to reach out to our daughter through their own pain and challenges to elevate her, make her feel loved, special, and to show her how much she matters to others. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">They were our angels. I am so grateful to them for the gift that they gave our daughter. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">A small token that meant the world to her.</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">This was my view last night. The kids did a great job!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">I pulled out my spinning wheel with the intention of relaxing and unwinding. </span><span style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;">I guess it was effective...I curled up on the couch and was fast asleep for the evening. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">I didn't realize how tired I was.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Today I need to tidy up. Next Thursday I am going to have 8 girls crashed out on this tiny floor space to celebrate my daughter's 12th birthday (a Dec 23rd baby) AND the last day of school! Friday starts the beginning of Christmas holidays so who knows when they will go home...we didn't set an end time. My plan is to needle felt Christmas ornaments with them or make some Stars like the ones that Cathy at the <a href="http://cathy-blueberrypatch.blogspot.ca/2012/12/a-little-crafty-star.html">Blueberry Patch</a> made. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">I love this time of year.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">My breaks from tidying up include:</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Relaxing at my spinning wheel ~ I am spinning up a bit of 50/50 wool/silk that I found in my stash. I plan on plying it with 100% angora that I spun up for my OHS spinning project this summer.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Learning about <a href="http://lindafranz.com/section/home/71">Inklingo</a> ~ how come my brain starts shutting down when I start reading about computer programs? I have been following Cathi at <a href="http://quiltobsession.wordpress.com/">Quilt Obsession</a> and I have become intrigued and obsessed with how she makes her quilts! I will get through my computer issues to figure this out...and if not I will be messaging Cathi and Linda...a LOT! I'm determined to get this to work for me...I'm envisioning lots of hand sewing at dance and music lessons. If you want to check it out you can go to the Inklingo website and download a free <a href="http://lindafranz.com/shop/beginners/3/product/free-diamond-triangle-square-/7">Shape Collection</a> (this is the link to the one I have downloaded...Diamond, Triangle, Stars...thanks Cathi for telling me about this!)</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><i>Quick Update: Cleaning is not happening. I've left the Inklingo Guided Tour and jumped in to the Shape Collection that I have downloaded and I have to say...I'm really impressed! It is very user-friendly, great tips and samples, no special ink required or programs to download (my nemesis). I'm off to get my printer running so I can give this a try! Woohoo....those 20,000 hexies that I need aren't looking so daunting now! </i></span></div>

Last night my youngest wanted company in the basement while she practiced her piano. As I stood there I eyeballed the last of the bins that have yet to be unpacked. They are my nemesis!! Most look like the movers just picked up drawers and dumped the stuff in. For two and a half years I haven't had the energy to even touch them. Last night I sucked up the courage and opened the first bin....it looked mostly like a junk drawer on steroids. I reached for the garbage bag and removed the first layer...hey there is my power bars...and then what to my wondering eye did appear...</span><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace; font-size: x-large;">THIS...</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pVc3rcMkRWw/UMjcBxIuvBI/AAAAAAAAASM/bjHJ5DjQ6mA/s1600/DSC04959.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="354" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pVc3rcMkRWw/UMjcBxIuvBI/AAAAAAAAASM/bjHJ5DjQ6mA/s640/DSC04959.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">I was wondering what had happened to the rest of my Halloween stash, batiks, sample blocks, Christmas panels, and kids prints. Welcome to my lost and found bin.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>This junk box was brought to you by the packers that used my antique quilts to wrap toiletries and cleaning supplies.</i></div>

I sat behind my sewing machine for the whole afternoon completely uninterrupted....ahhhhhhhh! That is pretty rare around here. I had decided that I was going to do a baby size jelly roll race quilt. I cut my pieces and loved what I had chosen. I sewed it all together...and didn't like the end result. All my greens had lumped together; matching fabrics sat on top of each other...all the light fabrics at the top and dark at the bottom with a big white strip through the centre like a little target. I ripped seams out to break up the chunks of matching fabrics and still didn't like it. After ripping and sewing and ripping and resewing again, this is what I had....</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YOsMgBcJ0GU/UMd4becKGTI/AAAAAAAAARY/5M1hnl9L0p4/s1600/DSC04939.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YOsMgBcJ0GU/UMd4becKGTI/AAAAAAAAARY/5M1hnl9L0p4/s400/DSC04939.JPG" width="300" /></span></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace; font-size: x-small;">This is the blurry folded in half version</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Eventually I lost my patience with it and pulled out the rotary cutter and began chopping it up! This is not like me. I am a pattern follower...a rule follower. Normally doing something as radical as cutting up my quilt top would have had me one step away from a nervous breakdown, however, after last it was rather therapeutic. It was very liberating to just say forget it and cut away without any regrets! Then my girls came home and gave their opinions...they pretty much were in agreement with the chopping of the quilt top. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eRff71EON_U/UMd55niB1TI/AAAAAAAAARg/YxyUeHPjpvU/s1600/DSC04940.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eRff71EON_U/UMd55niB1TI/AAAAAAAAARg/YxyUeHPjpvU/s400/DSC04940.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">After cutting the strips I rotated every other strip. I didn't plan it at all and didn't really notice but the second row from the top and bottom is exactly the same. I'm quite happy with that turned out.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">This is where I finished off last night...</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-U48H0yfvttw/UMd8X09z5uI/AAAAAAAAAR0/Z_BFgBgq2II/s1600/DSC04952.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-U48H0yfvttw/UMd8X09z5uI/AAAAAAAAAR0/Z_BFgBgq2II/s400/DSC04952.JPG" width="380" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">I have been thinking about putting a stripe of green in the border but I just love how fresh and clean this looks so I think I will quit now before I have to chop up another top. It reminds me of springtime and fresh cut grass. I think now I will just pluck up the courage to quilt it...thinking straight lines to keep with the minimalism of the design. So now you know...when you lose the Jelly Roll Race, make Chinese Coins!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">I'm now hanging out in my basement staring at my fibre and considering possibilities. I just had an inspiring conversation with Joanne at <a href="http://www.cakepoppinfun.blogspot.ca/">Merry Poppins</a>. (She is making cake pops for my daughter's 12th birthday. I can hardly wait to pick them up. Her work is beautiful. You can find her on Facebook too at <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Merry-Poppins/326377597393919">Merry Poppins</a>.)</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;">Anyway, when creative people get on the phone together there is no telling where the conversation may go. We went from cakes to quilting then spinning to felting. My mind is now running through the possibilities of where I could take <b><u>Twistfully Yours</u></b> and the idea of teaching workshops. Feeling more inspired than overwhelmed...that's a good sign! This isn't a new thought but the unknown keeps halting me in my tracks...</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<span style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;">(PS there are only 118 classroom days left of the school year...</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;">I am completely pumped about summer holidays now! lol)</span></div>
